So I began to play this yesterday, and it really doesn't seem nearly as difficult as I've seen many others state it is. I've only been playing for a little over an hour, and I only have two more crew members left to locate. Isn't this game supposed to last for a much longer period of time?! Anyways, I had 296 deaths, the last time I checked and 5 out of 20 trinkets.

I had reached a really difficult section, at which point I saved my game and quit playing. There's a crew member following me and mimicking my movements. I need to progress past three floating platforms. Which are moving up and down. I can't seem to figure out how to reach the other side, without the crew member dying in the process. Anybody have any suggestions as to what I should try and do?

^Everyone I ask has the same answer, so far. They can't remember what exactly you're supposed to do. I've tried about three different strategies, and they've all lead to unsuccessful attempts.

I think its based more on skill. I really don't remember too much puzzle aspects to the game.

I guess I can just refer to GameFAQs again.
